CSS Hat Interface

Costs: $34.99

I am a professional web site developer, mainly a front-end user interface engineer. Most of my day is spent bouncing around photoshop files and sublime text editor, trying to match pixels and recreate mock-up photoshop web sites into working html and css. As most front end developers know, is that this task, without a proper work flow and set of tools, can be daunting, frustrating, and slow. Going from photoshop to css can be a major pain.

Taking a photoshop file and making it into hmtl, and going from photoshop to css, is so boring times. I am always looking for ways to increase productivity and eliminating the boring factor. Let’s be honest, most front-end developers would rather be reading smashing magazine, or in javascript, rather than adding rounded corners to a button.

Well for those of you like me who are overachievers but like to work smarter not faster, I suggest buying CSS Hat.

CSS Hat – Making going from Photoshop to CSS a Snap!

CSS hat, which costs $34.99 USD, is worth every penny. After buying and using CSS Hat, I can say with confidence that my production while doing this task has increased by up to 50%. CSS Hat makes going from photoshop to css a snap. Yes, you will need to piece items together and still hand code at times, but about 80% of the work is done for you. All you have to do is click on the layer or text in photoshop, then BAM, you have beautifully coded css.

Yes, it isn’t perfect all the time. You have to know what you are doing in css, there are some limitations on shadows. You will also need to know how to deal with the standard browser compatibility issues.

Now if you don’t use plain css but CSS Preprocessors, fear not. CSS hat will convert photoshop to css using one of any of these preprocessors: SASS, SCSS, LESS or Stylus. The fine folks even created a LESS Hat library.

If you would to see some examples of photoshop to css in action continue to the next page! I will also explain some of the CSS Hat’s features!
